Fishing - Salmon, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout can all be caught in the local rivers and streams. Local fishing guides are available to help. The fly fishing season lasts from October to April.

Scenic Lakes - Lake Coleridge, Lake Clearwater and Lake Camp. Beautiful lakes all with in an easy drive from Methven.

Hot Air Ballooning - Where better to experience the scenery and tranquility of Hot Air Ballooning?

Golf - Methven Golf course and Terrace Downs. Fantastic 18 hole golf courses with spectacular views.

Walking Methven and the surrounding area is a great place for tramping and walking. At the base of Mt Hutt is the Awa Awa Rata Reserve, here you will find several walking tracks and a very pleasant picnic spot.
